2010 is the 54th Easter Seals Season on Prince Edward Island

The Ambassador for this year's PEI Easter Seals Campaign is twelve-year-old Colton Matheson, a grade six student at Montague Consolidated School. Colton, son of Jamie & Debra Matheson and Shannon Lavandier, lives in Montague, Prince Edward Island.

Colton has Downs Syndrome. He is a talented young man with a quick sense of humor, an ever-present smile and a huge love for music. Colton is involved in Special Olympics, an avid golfer and local entertainer. Colton is ecstatic to be the 2010 Easter Seals Ambassador:

"My motto is Feel the Joy! I am thrilled to be the Easter Seals Ambassador," said Colton.

Colton will travel across PEI visiting schools during the annual Tim Hortons' Easter Seals School Tour scheduled for six days in April, and also take part in the Easter Beef Show & Sale. He will be a special guest on the 2010 Easter Seals Telethon, set to broadcast live from Confederation Centre of the Arts at a new and exciting time slot - Sunday, March 28th from 2-5 pm on CBC Television. Colton will share the stage with co-hosts Bruce Rainnie & Matt Rainnie and a top-notch cast of entertainers. The three-hour telethon will enable Islanders to call in pledges on a toll-free line staffed by volunteers from Aliant. The show will also be an opportunity to feature businesses and organizations that are supporting the Easter Seals Campaign through their fundraising efforts.

The Easter Seals Campaign is a franchised project of the Charlottetown Rotary Club, and supported by Rotary clubs in Summerside and Montague. A direct mail campaign, the Tim Hortons' Ambassador's School Tour, a live telethon on CBC Television, the paper egg campaign, PEI Rocket Toonie Toss, Dooleys Pool tournament and other fundraising initiatives enable Easter Seals to help provide programs and equipment for people with disabilities on Prince Edward Island.

Stay tuned for an exciting new fundraiser, Easter Seals Drop Zone, where fundraisers dressed as Superheroes will rappel off the roof of one of our tallest buildings. It is scheduled to take place in June of 2010. Drop Zone raises awareness, heart rates and fundraising dollars that stay in PEI. Challenge yourself & get involved!

The PEI Easter Seals Society has provided financial assistance to support programs at PEI Cerebral Palsy Association, Camp Gencheff, Stars for Life Foundation for Autism, PEI Rehabilitation Council, Joy Riders, CADS-PEI (disabled skiers association) and many other worthy organizations.

The money raised here is used to help children and adults here on PEI. Grants are given to organizations (not individuals) to support important programs that help the disabled. To apply for funding from the PEI Easter Seals Society please print out and submit the following application:
